The world is becoming a smaller place to live in day by day and all this is due to the action of globalization among the countries. As there is cross international trade among the countries, there are so many companies involved in this scenario. When there are so many companies involved, it is also important to understand that there will be a good number of workers involved too. So it is very hard to make sure that the rights of all these workers are protected and their interests are also taken care of. In order to maintain this order, there was a formation of a council which was known as the Betriebsrat. So now you must be wondering that what is Betriebsrat all about well let me explain this to you in simple words that basically the Betriebsrat is an organization which protects the rights of the worker who are working a well established and registered company. It is the duty of the Betriebsrat to make sure that things are being worked out properly for the workers and their rights & interests are being properly protected too. Otherwise the council is a nationalized body and it can look into the matter with utmost authority into the matter.
The concept of Betriebsrat is present throughout the world and it present in almost most of the countries. Thought they have different norms and methods to be carried out but the basic nomenclature remains the same and so it is very important for the interest of the workers to be protected by such councils so that there is harmony among the employer and the employees too. This concept of Betriebsrat is very famous in the European countries and they are being strictly followed too. They allow the employees of the company to participate in the decision making process of the company especially if the interest of the workers is involved in the decision making proceeds. Whereas only some countries or rather some companies allow this practice of worker’s involvement, but there are many others which do not allow such interferences, specially the companies in united states of America which are employer centered companies and do not allow the workers to exercise their rights too. so it is very important that directly or indirectly the rights of the workers are protected in order to work in peace.
