The changing scenario of the Work Councils

There are so many multinational in the world and they all seem to have end number of employees working in them and it become very difficult for the employer to make sure that things are being carried out very well in their respective companies because all that the employers are interested in improving the standards of profits of production in the company. Therefore some times in order to chase their monetary targets they all tend to over look the idea of worker rights and the workers get exploited in the firm and they have no way out since it is the only source of their bread and butter. So in order to protect the rights of the workers, there is a council which is known as the work council and also known as betriebsrat in German. So now you must be thinking that why I am using a German word in an English article, then let me tell you that the concept of work councils or betriebsrat is at its peak in the European countries and they follow and evaluate the worker’s rights very closely and sometimes if needed, they interfere and make necessary changes in the same. But this was not the scenario in the previous years. The firms and companies were very rigid on not allowing the employee’s of the company to interfere in the matters of the company like the decision making matters, this was the case even if the interest of the workers were involved in the cases of the organization.

Hence the scenario changed and with the support of the modern democratic styles, within a short time period the rights of the workers were accepted by the companies and they allowed the rights of their workers to be protected by the work councils or the betriebsrat. Due to such changes in the view pints and the concepts of the employer-employee relationship or the master-servant relation concept, these old and rigid concepts were replaced with the colleague based enterprises and so the position of the workers which were very reluctant and tight, relaxed to a great extent and the companies saw that the productivity also increased gradually. Hence it is the betriebsrat which tooj of all these things and made sure it is being carried out very smoothly all across their terrain and the workers are happy with it and so are the Employers.
